01
A useful debrief names the miss, not just the score
Record whether the problem came from issue identification, technical knowledge, analysis depth, conclusion, communication, or time allocation. Two low results can require entirely different corrections.
The record should be short enough to complete after every case. A detailed debrief that is skipped does not improve the next response.
02
Choose the next case from the error pattern
If the last two cases show weak issue identification, another broad technical review may not address the problem. A shorter outlining drill or a case with similar ambiguity can test the correction directly.
If the issue is technical knowledge, return to current official learning material before writing another full case. Practice should test a change, not merely add volume.
03
Keep official and supplemental materials separate
Official CPA bodies control program requirements, examination rules, technical updates, blueprints, and candidate guidance. Supplemental cases can add repetitions and feedback, but they are not official exam content.
Source labels and dates matter during the transition to the new CPA Professional Program. Confirm your program stage before applying a study plan designed for the current CFE route.
