Based on official product pages, help centres and listed offers checked September 19, 2026. We have not tested these services; the recommendations compare their published features and terms. Links contain no affiliate tracking.
These are services an individual can explore directly, rather than software for running a coaching business. MentorCruise is included as a mentoring alternative: readers seeking advice from someone in their field may need that more than general coaching. Listed prices and terms are a snapshot, so confirm the offer shown before paying.

Prices above come from Rocky’s individual pricing, Coach.me’s productivity directory, GoalsWon’s pricing and MentorCruise’s payment guide, checked September 19, 2026. GoalsWon and MentorCruise explicitly quote US dollars; Rocky and Coach.me display the dollar prices shown here, so confirm checkout currency and taxes.
Rocky.ai: a starting point for AI reflection
Rocky’s personal app centres on coaching conversations, goal tracking and development plans. Its consumer offer is distinct from the white-label platform it sells to coaches and businesses. Start at the personal-development page, rather than interpreting a business subscription as the price of personal coaching.
Rocky’s help centre describes Coaching, Mentoring and Guiding modes: questioning your thinking, suggesting perspectives, or offering more direction. Selecting “Mentoring” still means talking to AI, not connecting to a human mentor. Rocky’s mode guide, checked 2026.
The individual pricing page lists a free option focused on positive mindset or discipline, with broader topics and development plans advertised from $9.99 monthly. Check which topics are included in the offer you actually select. Rocky pricing, checked 2026.
Try a specific request: “I keep postponing a conversation with my manager about priorities. Help me identify what I am avoiding, then draft an opening sentence.” Does the response address the conversation you need to have, or could it apply to anyone?
Rocky cannot provide a person who has agreed to review what happened later. If that relationship is what helps you stick to a commitment, consider the human options below. Rocky discusses this distinction in its limitations guide.
Before subscribing: return to the same topic after another conversation. Check whether the app carries forward the right goal and lets you correct a mistaken assumption. A claim of memory matters less than whether the remembered context is useful to you.
Coach.me: human support around a specific habit
Coach.me offers free habit tracking and separate paid coaching. You can look for a coach from the habit you are tracking or browse its directory. That makes it a starting point for a specific problem, such as a morning routine you keep abandoning. Coach.me; finding a coach, updated 2025.
In September 2026, its productivity directory listed $25-per-week offers for setting daily priorities and building a morning routine. Prices vary by coach and service. Browse the listed offers.
A good brief is narrow: “I want to start my priority task before opening email on workdays.” It gives you and the coach something observable to discuss. “Help me become more successful” leaves too much room for paying for conversations that never settle on a task.
The individual coach determines much of the experience. Before purchasing, ask how often they respond, whether weekends are included, what happens after a missed check-in, and whether the package includes calls. A weekly price does not necessarily buy a weekly video session.
Save your messages before cancelling. Coach.me says coaching chat history disappears immediately when you cancel. Copy anything you want to retain first. Cancellation instructions, updated August 3, 2026.
GoalsWon: a person checking in every day
GoalsWon suits someone who knows what they want to do but keeps putting it off. It describes a service that matches you with a coach, exchanges daily updates and follows up when you miss a day. GoalsWon’s process, checked 2026.
The price page lists a dedicated human coach, daily chat check-ins and a monthly video call. Its standard subscription is $90 monthly or $720 billed annually. The advertised trials differ: seven days for monthly billing and fourteen for annual billing. GoalsWon pricing, checked 2026.
The annual plan costs less per month but commits you to a full year’s payment. GoalsWon’s cancellation policy says access continues to the end of the billing period and refunds are not offered after the trial. Cancellation policy.
A good trial task: bring a project with a visible deliverable, such as sending a draft proposal. Report what happened on an ordinary difficult day, not just the day everything went well. Look for a response that helps you change the next attempt: narrow the task, move the work period or address the obstacle you named.
Daily contact asks something of you as well. If you dislike reporting progress, the check-in may become another task you postpone. And if you need someone to critique a portfolio or a promotion case, specialist feedback may matter more than contact frequency.
MentorCruise: career and skill-specific mentoring
MentorCruise is a marketplace for finding someone with experience in a field you want to work in or improve at. Its directory covers areas including engineering, design, product management and leadership, with plans combining different amounts of calls and messaging. It is worth considering when your question is not just “How do I follow through?” but “Am I approaching this work correctly?” MentorCruise’s directory and service overview, checked 2026.
Each mentor sets their monthly price in US dollars. The payment guide describes a seven-day trial after the mentor accepts your application and you provide payment details. Billing continues even if you do not schedule calls. Compare the plan’s actual scope rather than assuming all subscriptions include the same access. Payment guide, updated January 2026.
A stronger application includes a work sample: a portfolio case study, a draft promotion narrative, or a learning plan. Explain the decision you want feedback on. “Can you help me progress?” is harder to assess than “Can you review whether this case study shows enough evidence for a senior design role?”
A recognisable employer on a mentor’s profile does not tell you how well they give feedback. Ask what you should prepare, how they review work and what falls outside the subscription. Look for experience with the task you need help completing.
For a bounded question, explore the platform’s one-off sessions before assuming you need an ongoing subscription. Agree on the output you want, such as annotated feedback or a revised plan, before booking.
Why BetterUp is not in this individual shortlist
BetterUp’s official subscription help page now states that BetterUp for Individuals is winding down and cannot accept new or returning members. It still contains historical plan descriptions underneath that notice. Reading only those plan details could make an unavailable subscription look like a current buying option. BetterUp’s official notice, checked September 2026.
The notice concerns the individual program. If you have access through an employer, check the offer attached to your account separately.
Match the service to the point where you get stuck
Consider a fictional reader, Alex, who wants to change jobs but keeps spending evenings reorganising a task list. The same visible delay could call for different support.
If Alex has not decided what role to pursue, a reflection conversation may help surface competing priorities. The useful output is a decision to investigate, with a reason attached. A reminder to “apply today” would arrive before the underlying choice has been made.
If Alex knows the target but never starts applications, the next question is about execution. A habit coach or daily accountability arrangement can be evaluated against that specific problem: does the exchange help Alex start the task and revise a plan that keeps failing?
If Alex sends applications but gets no interviews, another check-in may be less useful than relevant feedback on the application itself. A mentor familiar with the target field is a different purchase from someone who reviews daily completion.
Write down the output you need before choosing the format: a decision, a completed task or feedback on your work.

Take this brief into a trial or introductory call
Bring one task and name the output you want. Use the brief below to prepare; the filled example shows how to turn “help me make progress” into a request a coach can respond to.
Your first-session brief
Copy this into your notes and fill it in before a trial or introductory call.
Replace the bracketed text in your own notes.
My goal: [A decision or task I want help with.] What keeps getting in the way: [One recent example.] What I have already tried: [What happened.] What I want to leave with: [A draft, decision, rehearsal or next action.] My next step and when I will do it: [Action + time.] How we will follow up: [Who checks in, when, and by which channel.] If I miss the step: [What we will review and adjust.]
Then settle these questions before paying:
- Who responds? An AI, the named coach, or another member of a team?
- What contact is included? Ask about response windows, calls, messaging limits and missed appointments.
- What should I produce? Name the draft, decision, rehearsal or completed task you want to work towards.
- What happens when I fall behind? A reminder, a conversation, a changed plan, or no follow-up?
- What can I keep when I leave? Check access to messages, notes and action plans, as well as cancellation and renewal terms.
During the trial, note what you brought, what the service helped you produce and what you did afterwards. Use that record to decide whether another billing period is worth buying.
Your coaching trial review
Keep a record during the trial, then review it before the renewal deadline.
Replace the bracketed text in your own notes.
Service and plan: [Name + price + billing period.] Trial ends / renewal deadline: [Date, time and time zone from the offer.] Task I brought: [The same task I use when comparing services.] Support promised: [Messages, calls, response times and deliverables.] Support received: [What actually happened, with dates.] What I produced or changed: [A specific output or action.] What still did not work: [One example.] Messages or notes to save: [What I want to keep and how to export it.] My decision: [Continue, ask a question or cancel before renewal.] Reason: [What in this record supports that decision.]
Check data handling before sharing the whole story
A useful coaching brief can be specific without naming everyone involved. “My manager keeps adding requests” may be enough to work on a boundary-setting conversation; an identifiable client list or confidential workplace document often adds nothing necessary to that task.
Before uploading records, check the provider’s privacy policy for who can access them, whether AI systems process them, and how export and deletion work. Then locate those controls in the app. The feature comparisons above do not establish how securely a provider handles your data.
Questions readers ask before choosing a coaching app
Can I get coaching for free?
Rocky advertises a limited-topic free individual tier. Coach.me’s free tracker is separate from paid personal coaching. Free access, a time-limited trial and ongoing human support are different offers; check which one you are signing up for.
Is an AI coaching app a replacement for a human coach?
It can be a way to rehearse, reflect or draft a next action without arranging an appointment. It does not provide a person who has agreed to notice your progress or bring lived professional experience. Choose based on the support you want to evaluate, not the presence of “AI” in the name.
What is the difference between coaching and mentoring here?
In this comparison, coaching centres on your goals, choices and follow-through; mentoring adds experience from a relevant field. Actual services can overlap. Ask whether the person will question your reasoning, review your work, give domain advice or combine those activities.
Can I cancel an annual plan and get the unused months back?
Do not infer that from “cancel anytime.” Ending renewal and refunding an existing payment are different actions. Read the provider’s policy before choosing annual billing; GoalsWon’s policy, for example, says refunds are not offered after its trial.
Which option is best if I want help with a career change?
First identify the task: deciding on a direction, completing applications, or improving the work you submit. Match the trial to that task. For a more detailed discussion of support formats, read when to use an AI coach or a human coach.
